project/community manager for environmental sustainability project Part-time

KDE e.V., the non-profit organisation supporting the KDE community, is looking for two people to run a project related to the environmental sustainability of our software. The positions we are looking to fill are those of a project lead who can also do some event management duties as well as a project/community manager.

About the role

KDE e.V. is looking for you as an employee for our new initiative to support environmentally sustainable software
development. You will be the central person who makes the sustainability criteria according to “Blauer Engel“
known in the KDE Community and in other communities and supports teams in implementing them in the context
of Free Software.

As an employee of KDE e.V., you will work together with the team of the organization and the community as part
of a funded project that runs from July 1, 2021 to March 31, 2023. The position is intended as a part time position
(20h/week). You have support for design, event management and project administration.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Collecting and bundling feedback and experience on how the Blauer Engel criteria for Free Software can
  be implemented
• Creating materials to spread sustainable software development ideas according to the criteria of Blauer
  Engel in the Free Software community
• Presenting the topic in interaction with the community, at conferences and at community events and
  forums

Qualifications and skills

• Knowledge of marketing, communication or community management as part of a vocational training,
  university studies or comparable practical experience
• Ability to work independently within the frame of the project
• Understanding of Free Software communities
• Ability to travel to events or attend virtual events (potentially on weekends every now and then)
• Fluent in English (verbal and written); German a plus
