Special Projects Technology Intern Internship

The International Special Projects Technology Intern will provide OpenITP with assistance setting up internal tech structures, creating and executing international tech projects, and helping with other program initiatives when needed. This person will work closely with the ED and the OpenITP’s Program Associates.

OpenITP incubates and supports open source, anti-censorship and anti-surveillance technology projects by providing grants, events, and cultivating community conversations.

This position is paid and located in New York City.

Responsibilities

* Helping setup and maintain internal IT structures. * Brainstorming and executing special technology projects geared towards an international community of developers, such as a translation portal for tool documentation. * Researching regions of the world and Liberation Technology organizations * Performing administrative tasks when needed, as well as some light event planning.

Qualifications

* Cross-cultural communication skills with an ability to work with an international community * Strong research and communication skills. * System administration skills (competency with GNU/Linux, LAMP stack and RoR deployment, etc) You don’t have to be an expert, but you should have some basic familiarity with these tools. * Ability to work both independently and in a team environment * Deadline and detailed oriented. * Basic knowledge of Open Source and Liberation Technology communities
