Senior Engineering Manager - WebAssembly Team (Remote) Full-time

The WebAssembly team at Fastly is focused on the technology that powers Fastly’s Compute platform, which is an advanced serverless platform built on open standards that runs code, in any preferred language, on our global edge network. It’s designed to address the requirements of modern application development by empowering customers to run code in a highly secure execution environment with microsecond cold start times, at scale, on the edge.

If you are a seasoned Engineering Leader and active member of open source runtime communities, this just may be your dream job! This team works with Bytecode Alliance on WebAssembly, as well as several other open source communities.

What You’ll Do:

Lead a team of very senior and very talented developers who are truly experts in this field
Work closely across Fastly’s engineering teams to facilitate effective communication and roadmapping

What We’re Looking For:

  • You have a minimum of 12 years of engineering experience with at least 5 of those in a direct management role
  • You have extensive experience with runtimes (such as V8, SpiderMonkey, CoreCLR, or others) or you have experience with either low-level systems implementation, performance optimization, and engineering for scalability
  • You have experience with active Open Source communities

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:

  • Programming language design or implementation
  • You have experience with compiler development
  • You have experience with WebAssembly, especially with Wasmtime
  • You have extensive experience in leadership positions in active open source communities

Work Hours:
This position will require you to be available during core North American business hours, and available to support the team through incidents that require escalation.

Salary:
The estimated salary range for this position is $195,720 – $244,645.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
