SNOMED International is hiring a remote technical release engineer, to help evolve and deliver the product releases for the world's most comprehensive clinical terminology standard.
Our challenge is to accurately represent the nuances, advancements, and relationships between clinical terms, methods, and treatments across the constantly evolving field of medicine on a global scale.
We're the global industry leader and a non-profit organisation. Our open source software benefits tens of millions of public and private healthcare users globally. We release the data standard that allows 46 member countries to base their nation's health and clinical data ecosystems upon an accurate, standardised, clinical terminology - SNOMED CT.
Our Java and web-based products are delivered through mature processes and we will need your skills to help us increase the frequency of our releases without compromising on the level of quality.
To build your domain knowledge, you will program builds, carry out validation, apply fixes and perform static code analysis to ensure the quality and reliability of our products.
Collaborating with our release manager, this role will then grow into the clinical terminology release management and processes; overseeing and ensuring timely product releases for our members, international community and managed service clients and managing the implementation process - from development through to execution.
You'll be joining us during a period of finding improvements and making enhancements, with ample scope to explore better ways of delivering what our communities need. We are currently working through our five year strategy of delivering SNOMED CT 'as a service', and your contribution will be essential in ensuring the successful implementation and expansion of this initiative.
A flavour of the work:
Assessing release readiness of SNOMED products using both manual and automated validation methods
Identifying and correcting issues with our product development process by evaluating process execution logs and quality validation results
Collaborating with product development teams to ensure requirements are implemented correctly
Maintaining, analysing and extending our release validation framework
Adapting our global product delivery method to a SaaS-like model
We're looking for:
Someone who is committed to maintaining consistent quality standards
A good understanding of release principles, best practices and methods
Comfortable with autonomy and taking a self-starting approach to closing gaps in our systems, validation and release processes
A product-success based emphasis on release management, across a suite of mature and new products
Proficiency with Java and SQL
Experience with SDLC
Adaptability, openness to change and pragmatism
Fluent written and spoken English, to support multi-national stakeholders
Formal study in computing, to degree or masters level - or equivalent accrued knowledge
Knowledge of or experience with SNOMED CT is not necessary, but it would be an advantage
Our current ecosystem - we'll welcome your input:
Java 11+, Spring Boot | Agile, TDD | Ansible | Docker | Jenkins | Terraform | AWS | Git | MySQL | Atlassian suite | AWS technologies | Elasticsearch | Angular
Salary and benefits:
c.£60,000 – £75,000 or its currency equivalent
25 days paid holiday + bank holidays | any statutory or mandatory pension obligations
Discretionary home office setup assistance | laptop | expenses e.g. broadband
Personal development plan, with budget | time out for conferences and workshops
Technology certification | SNOMED courses and certifications
