We are an organization working on human rights and internet freedom-related issues. Our entire team works remotely (during pandemics and otherwise) and the successful candidate will also work on a remote basis.

Grants Manager

We are searching for an experienced Grants Manager to work with our organization to manage the reporting requirements of current sources of funding and to identify and pursue new sources of funding.

Duties for the Grants Manager will include managing overall grant efforts, documenting payments and expenditure, optimizing the grant administration process, overseeing fund-raising, preparing progress reports, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, reviewing grant proposals, managing grant databases, engaging with donor agencies, educating staff on policies, and preparing financial reports.

The candidate’s skills and expertise in successful grants management will aid our organization in serving the public by securing continuous funding, improving existing projects through effective funding programs, and executing meaningful projects.

The ideal candidate for this role should have superior organizational skills, great leadership qualities, and exceptional monitoring skills. The outstanding Grants Manager should enhance relationships with donors, ensure that grant programs operate efficiently, streamline grant administration, and keep our organization fiscally sound.

Reporting to a senior manager, you will also work closely with our technical staff. This position is available immediately.

Grants Manager Responsibilities:

Administration of current grants

  • Optimizing the grant administration process for current grants.
  • Managing timelines and deliverables, including proactive and strong communication with team members.
  • Preparing and writing regular reports for current grants.
  • Monitoring budgets.

Seeking out new sources of funding

  • Determining funding needs.
  • Researching funding opportunities.
  • Designing grant programs with senior management including preparing all proposal documents including budgets.
  • Identifying support agencies and potential collaborative opportunities.
  • Gathering supporting material for applications (letters of support, research studies, supporting data, etc.)
  • Tracking grant applications.

Grants Manager Experience:

Must-have experience:

  • Excellent communication and project management skills, across countries and cultures.
  • Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail
  • Native-level English language writing skills.
  • Previous experience in applying for and managing grants, and an extensive knowledge of donor agencies.
  • Ability to meet and prioritise multiple deadlines in a constantly developing environment, with proven ability to work remotely.
  • Proven experience in working with a global team and stakeholders across different countries.

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Proficiency in other languages.
  • Methodical and strategic thinking.
  • Budgeting and accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of auditing policies.
  • Knowledge of secure communications and privacy practices.

Location

This is a part-time position with flexible working hours that could morph into a full-time position with additional responsibilities depending on the candidate. We have a preference for candidates in European time zones. Please note that the role will involve regular communications with stakeholders who are based in and operate in different time zones, including across the Americas, in Europe, and in Asia. The organization has no office. At the moment, no travel is required. The successful candidate must be eligible to engage in work at the location in which they will be based. We will be unable to sponsor visas for this role.
